He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends and colleagues.” Dr Kipling grew up in Acre Rigg, in Peterlee. He went on to do a medical degree and met his wife, Joan, when they were both working in a hospital in London. They married in 1979 and moved back to the area shortly after. Dr Kipling worked as a GP in the West View Road practice, in Hartlepool, before moving to Hart Lodge Surgery, in Hart Lane, five years ago. Jane Dunstone, who worked with Dr Kipling for 18 years, said: “He was always extremely friendly with his patients and staff and was well liked by everybody. David was known to be a very caring family man and will be missed by a lot of people.” Mike Craddy, lifeboat operations manager for Hartlepool lifeboat station, added: “He was a great man and even during his illness found time to visit the boathouse and share reflections on happier times. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.” Dr Kipling's funeral took place on 9th February.
